If you have found yourself this far into our website, we bet there is a good reason why!
In all seriousness, people come to therapy typically when they realize they are ready for a change. They don't want to feel or function the way they have been, or someone in their life has reflected something to them. Common themes we hear include grief from a loss, difficulty with a change (move, job, relationship, parenthood), worry about themselves, others, and/or the world, challenges with conflict, patterns of people-pleasing resulting in frustration or resent, recognition of how trauma continues to affect them, and work-related stress.
Whether you are here for yourself or your relationship, your work or your family, start with a free consultation and see if you find a provider that you connect with.
This is a very individualized experience! We generally see clients weekly. This model is common in therapy due to the understanding of how our brains and bodies integrate information. Typically clients doing weekly therapy report improvement of symptoms within three months, with ongoing sessions decreasing in frequency over time. Some clients discharge within a year, others remain in therapy longer, depending on their specific goals. However, your experience will be unique to you and discussed with your provider.
The end of therapy, termination, is a normal and expected part of the experience, though it can also be difficult due to the nature of feeling supported and connected to your provider! We are trained to facilitate this part of the process as well.
Sometimes therapy ends before goals are met. This is not common but can happen through decision of a client, the provider, or mutually that there is no longer a good fit due to a variety of reasons. This is discussed in more detail in our consent forms.
Insurance contracts and plans are personalized. You may have a deductible (an amount you have to pay out of pocket before your insurance company covers services) or a copay (the amount you owe for services after each visit). Sometimes people have secondary insurance plans.
We highly recommend clients contact their insurance companies to find out details about their specific plan. We will help, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the client to cover any fees from their services.

Yes! If you do not see your insurance plan listed, we can always provide a superbill so your insurance plan can reimburse you for your sessions with an out of network provider. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to clarify this is something they will do before you try it.

We believe in removing barriers to treatment. We also honor our providers for their experience and training by compensating fairly.
We have a select number of sliding scale spots available. We offer a needs based scale, utilizing a self-reflective practice where clients recognize what amount of expendable income they have and how much they can reasonably afford to compensate for services. This amount is reviewed every 90 days to allow clients to adjust as needed.
